What can Judo do for you? - 2007/11/12 21:11 So we have been running classes here (Wednesdays 7:00-8:30, and Saturdays 9:00-10:30), and I have noticed that I haven't attracted many non-Judo folks to my classes... More specifically, I have had several folks show up once, but usually I don't see them again... That leads me to think that I am not offering things that you guys want to learn, which brings me to my point:

What can we do in the Judo classes to make them more useful to you guys? What's missing, or what is there that you just don't like? Help me help you! I want to earn my keep, after all...

Re:What can Judo do for you? - 2007/11/17 11:07 I am one of those that have attended once or twice, and i can say that the primary reason I dont attend more often is strictly logistical. My scheduled usually gets me in there on Tues and Thurs, with the occasional variation.

My thoughts were that showing up once every few weeks would not result in much in the way of productive gains as I would effectively be starting from scratch each time.. so on the occasions that I do make in on Wed/Sat I have opted for other activities. Maybe I am wrong on my assessment?

Re:What can Judo do for you? - 2007/11/18 17:54 In most cases, I would agree with you, but for folks who are doing BJJ, wrestling, sombo, etc. on a regular basis, coming in to judo on a periodic basis isn't a complete waste of time. The one snag there, though, is with falling. Because of the amount of falling that we do in judo, I want to spend a lot of time on that before we get to the more fun stuff. You have to get a lot of repetitions in before it becomes second nature, but once you hit that tipping point, it is kind of like riding a bike... You can come in a month later, and still be good to go...

Re:What can Judo do for you? - 2007/11/27 23:10 I'll be back for sure, I've been sick, and on top of that I'm planning on having Tomtom killed for my bicep/shoulder.
Just kidding Tom, I wouldn't of mentioned it if I was serious.
Anyhow I like the Judo class for everything besides the ground game, I prefer the Grappling class and BJJ class when it comes down to the that. Either way, I learn from any class I take at the gym.
