On January 10, MMA Institute went 3 – 2 in Manassas, VA at Combat in the Cage.  Amanda Jones had her MMA debut against a far more experienced opponent, Iman Achhal, who has since begun competing as a pro . . .  Amanda fought hard and had 2 near submissions, but unfortunately was not able to win the decision.  Angel Ortiz and Steve Turel both finished their fights in the first round.  Angel sunk in a rear naked choke in the latter part of the round, and Steve pulled off a sweet armbar when it went to the ground.    Steve Wampler, fighting a much larger opponent, was submitted by an Americana arm lock.  The Main Event featured Kasheem Peterson and MMA Institute’s Vamana Brown for the Welterweight title.  It was an exciting match that ended abruptly in the 3rd round after Kasheem Peterson was disqualified after several repeated illegal strikes.  Vamana is now the title holder; however, after several attempts to obtain the from event promoter Ed Hsu, it doesn’t appear as if the title will ever be in its rightful place.
