Ready 2 Fight: Battleground

Saturday, September 5th Ready 2 Fight: Battleground will feature MMA Institute fighters.  Tripp Ford will make his MMA debut at 170lbs; Tyus Thomas will be competing at 185lbs; and Ben Allen will be fighting for the 145lb Championship Title.  Bouts begin at 6:00pm at the Norfolk Masonic Temple for all those who want to come out and support the team.   Tickets may be purchased online at or at the door.

MMA Institute in Charlottesville

Saturday, August 29th: Fight Night Challenge featured fighters from MMA Institute Charlotttesville taking home three victories and only one loss.  Matt Radik won by TKO, Carlos Martinez and Jesse Gibson by decision.  Most impressive was the amount of MMA Institute students who came out to support their teammates.  It goes to show MMA Institute isn't just a team, but a family.

August BJJ Promotions

Congratulations to all our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu students who earned more stripes on their belts at BJJ Promotions, Friday August 21st. 

Special attention should be given to the following students who graduated in belt level:

All of the students above continuously show their dedication to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with the hours they put on the mat.  These belts are hard-earned and greatly celebrated.  The team keeps growing stronger!

Four Finishes and Two Championship Belts

MMA Institute went 4-0 at Sprawl N Brawl, Saturday August 15th and brought home two championship belts.  Congratulations are in order!

  • Chelsea McCoy win by knock out and now the female 125lb Champion
  • Ronell White win by rear naked choke to remain 125lb Champion
  • Jacob Lemacks win by rear naked choke
  • Matt Messina win by knock out
